Lead magnets that book the calls
This is how I got Grok Bot to run my lead magnets end to end, from finding a format that's working all the way to booking the calls. Each job is handed to its own agent, so they run in the background while I mostly just show up for the calls.
Grok Bot is an AI agent app that comes with its own computer and browser, so it can scroll your LinkedIn feed, run scrapers, build pages in Notion and keep a tracker up to date. You talk to it in plain words, it can split a job across teammates, it remembers how you like things done through skills, and it runs jobs on a schedule through routines.
Everything below is what I'd tell it, in the order I'd set it up. You don't need to write any code.
What you need
| Thing | Why | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Grok Bot | Runs the six agents and their routines | Your Grok Bot plan |
| Your LinkedIn account | The scout scrolls your feed, and the DMs come from you | Free |
| Notion | Formats list, the resources, the commenters and the calls tracker | Free plan is fine |
| Apify (optional) | LinkedIn search and pulling comments without your login | Free plan ($5 of usage a month) covers it |
| A clear idea of who buys from you | The sorter needs it to find your buyers | 15 minutes of thinking |
What's inside
- The scout: finds the lead magnet formats getting the most comments in your niche
- The builder: turns the winning format into an actual resource people want to read
- The designer: makes the image or GIF with your keyword on it
- The writer: writes the post in your voice using the template that gets comments
- The sorter: sorts every commenter into Buyers, Maybes, Peers and Skips
- The closer: DMs the buyers first and keeps track of every call they book
02 · Setup
Do this once, in this order
Each step is something you say to Grok Bot, and it'll ask you for anything it needs along the way.
Step 1: Log into LinkedIn in Grok Bot's browser
Grok Bot has its own browser and keeps you logged in, so sign into LinkedIn there once. The scout uses it to scroll your feed and the sorter uses it to read comments. Keep everything at a normal human pace (I tell it to scroll for 20 to 30 minutes, not hours), because it's your real account and LinkedIn doesn't like anything that looks like a bot hammering it.
Step 2: Connect Notion and make four databases
Ask Grok Bot to connect your Notion account through its Notion connector and give it access to the page where you want the machine to live, then:
On my {page name} page, create these Notion databases:
1. "Lead Magnet Formats": Hook (title), Author (text), URL (url), Comments (number),
Reactions (number), Keyword (text), Resource type (select: guide, template, checklist,
swipe file, prompt pack, tool, video), Why it worked (text), Posted (date), Used (checkbox).
2. "Lead Magnets": Name (title), Status (Idea, Building, Ready, Live, Done), Keyword (text),
Resource link (url), Image (files), Post (text), Live date (date).
3. "Commenters": Name (title), Headline (text), Profile (url), Comment (text), Post (relation
to Lead Magnets), Score (number), Tier (select: Buyer, Maybe, Peer, Skip), Reason (text).
4. "Calls Tracker": Name (title), Profile (url), Post (relation to Lead Magnets), Tier (select),
Stage (select: To DM, Delivered, Talking, Call offered, Booked, Closed), First DM (text),
Last message (date), Next step (text), Call date (date), Notes (text).Also make an empty page called "Lead Magnet Resources" that you've shared to the web. That's where the builder puts each resource.
Step 3: Get Apify working (optional, but it saves your account)
Apify is a marketplace of ready-made scrapers (they call them Actors), and Grok Bot can run them for you through the Apify connector. You can run this whole machine through your feed alone, but I like Apify for LinkedIn search and for pulling comments, since those Actors don't use your login at all.
- Make an account at apify.com. The free plan doesn't need a card and gives you $5 of usage every month. It renews monthly and doesn't roll over, and if you use it all, Apify pauses until next month instead of charging you.
- Get your API token. In the Apify Console go to Settings > API & Integrations and copy your personal API token. Treat it like a password.
- Connect it in Grok Bot. Ask Grok Bot to add the Apify connector (Apify's own MCP server) and paste your token when it asks. Then check it worked with the prompt below.
Search the Apify store for a LinkedIn post search scraper and tell me the price.
For finding lead magnets I use LinkedIn Post Search Scraper (No Cookies) by harvestapi (harvestapi/linkedin-post-search), $2 per 1,000 posts. LinkedIn search takes AND, OR and NOT (up to 5 per query), which is handy for catching lead magnet posts:
{
"searchQueries": [
"\"comment\" AND \"free\" AND (founders OR agency)",
"\"comment\" AND (guide OR template OR checklist) AND {your niche}"
],
"maxPosts": 50,
"postedLimit": "month",
"sortBy": "relevance"
}There's no minimum comments setting, so tell Grok Bot to keep only posts above your bar (I start at 100 comments) after the run. One query tops out around 400 to 500 posts.
For pulling comments I use LinkedIn Post Comments Scraper (No Cookies) by harvestapi (harvestapi/linkedin-post-comments), $2 per 1,000 comments. Give it your post URL and it returns every top-level comment with the person's name, headline and profile link (maxItems at 0 means all of them):
{
"posts": ["https://www.linkedin.com/posts/{your-post-url}"],
"maxItems": 0
}Ask Grok Bot to check the exact input names on the Actor page before the first run, since builders sometimes rename them.
What it costs
| Run | Size | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Lead magnet search, weekly | 2 queries x 50 posts | about $0.20, so about $0.80 a month |
| Comments on one lead magnet post | 300 comments | about $0.60 |
| Two lead magnets a month | about $2 all in |
That fits in the free $5. Ask Grok Bot to tell you the cost before any run you haven't done before and to cap what a single run can charge (Apify lets you set that). Prices are set by whoever built each Actor and can change, so check the pricing tab once in a while.
Step 4: Make your voice skill
The writer needs to sound like you. A skill is a set of instructions Grok Bot saves and uses every time, so you only explain your style once. Copy 30 to 50 of your own posts into the chat (or have Grok Bot pull them with harvestapi/linkedin-profile-posts and your profile URL), then:
Read these posts of mine and write a skill called "my-voice" that a writer could follow to sound exactly like me: how I open posts, sentence length, line breaks, words I use and never use, how I tell stories, how I end posts, my formatting habits, and 5 of my best posts as examples with a note on why each works. Show it to me before you save it.
Step 5: Set up the six teammates and their routines
Grok Bot can hand parts of a job to teammates, so each agent below is a teammate with its own instructions. Set each one up with the starter prompt in its section. They don't all run at once like a content pipeline. They run around the life of one lead magnet:
| When | Who |
|---|---|
| Every Monday morning | Scout |
| When you pick a format | Builder, then Designer, then Writer |
| Every 3 hours for 3 days after the post goes live | Sorter, then Closer |
| Every morning at 9:00 | Closer (follow-ups and the tracker) |
Before you leave it on its own
- Logged into LinkedIn in Grok Bot's browser
- Notion connected and the four databases made
- Apify connected and tested once (if you're using it)
- Voice skill and ICP file made (the writer and the sorter)
- All six teammates set up and each one run once by hand while you watch
- Grok Bot told clearly that it never posts or sends anything without you
03 · The scout
The scout finds what gets comments
Finds the lead magnet formats getting the most comments in your niche, by scrolling your own LinkedIn feed in Grok Bot's browser (and, if you set up Apify, a LinkedIn search too). Your feed is already full of people in your niche, so the posts pulling hundreds of comments there are the best proof of what your audience will comment on.
How it spots a lead magnet: the post offers something free (a guide, template, checklist, prompt pack, tool), asks people to comment a word to get it, and the comments are full of that word.
Set it up
Make a teammate called Scout. Every time it runs:
- Scroll my LinkedIn feed in your browser for about 25 minutes at a normal pace.
- Find posts where people comment a keyword to get something free.
- Save every one with {100}+ comments to my Lead Magnet Formats database: hook, author,
URL, comment count, reactions, keyword, what the resource is, and one line on why
you think people wanted it.
- If Apify is connected, also run the lead magnet search from my setup and add anything
over the same bar.
- Then pick the top 3 formats for my audience, {who I help}, and send me a short note
with each one and the resource I could make in that format from what I know.When it runs
A routine every Monday at 8:00.
Where it goes
New rows in Lead Magnet Formats, plus a note with your top 3. You pick one and add it to Lead Magnets as Idea.
04 · The builder
A resource people actually read
Turns the winning format into an actual resource people want to read. It copies the shape of what's working (a checklist, a template pack, a step-by-step guide) but fills it with what you actually know, so it's yours and it's useful.
A good resource
- Solves one problem your buyer has, start to finish
- Can be used today without a call with you
- Has steps, examples or templates, not just ideas
- Has at least one thing only you would know, from your own clients or results
- Takes 5 to 15 minutes to get through
Set it up
Make a teammate called Builder. When I move a card in Lead Magnets to Building:
- Look at the format I picked and the 3 best examples of it in Lead Magnet Formats.
- Interview me for 15 minutes about {the topic}, one question at a time, so the resource
comes from my experience and not from the internet.
- Build it as a Notion page under Lead Magnet Resources: a short intro, sections that each
do one job, steps and examples I can actually use, and a line at the top with my LinkedIn.
- Don't invent results, clients or numbers. Mark anything you're unsure of with [CHECK].
- Paste the public link into the card and move it to Ready when I've approved it.When it runs
Whenever you move a card to Building.
Where it goes
A new page under Lead Magnet Resources, linked on the card.
05 · The designer
The image with your keyword on it
Makes the image or GIF for the post with your keyword on it, so people know exactly what to comment.
Image basics
- 1080 x 1350 (portrait), since it takes up the most room in the feed on a phone
- A preview of the resource itself (the cover, a table of contents, a dashboard, a page of the template), so it looks like something real they'll get
- The keyword big and clear, ideally in a pill near the bottom, like "Comment {KEYWORD} for the guide ↓"
- Your colors and fonts every time, and no tiny logos or footers
- A GIF only when something moving adds to it (pages flipping, a list filling in), 6 to 10 seconds and looping
Set it up
Make a teammate called Designer. For each lead magnet marked Ready, make one image at
1080x1350 in my style: {colors, fonts, light or dark}. Show a preview of the resource,
put "Comment {KEYWORD} for the {resource} ↓" in a big pill near the bottom, and check it
on a phone-size preview so everything is readable. Make a short looping GIF version too if
the resource has something that would look good moving. Attach it to the card.Grok Bot can make images and also build simple animated graphics on its own computer and export them as GIF or MP4.
When it runs
Right after the builder.
Where it goes
The Image column on the card.
06 · The writer
The post, in your voice
Writes the post in your voice using a simple lead magnet template. The keyword lives on the image only, and the post ends on "Free access 👇", with no asking people to like, repost or connect.
The template
{The outcome, in first person. What the thing got you or does for you.}
({Optional: one line of proof, only if it's true.})
{One short paragraph on the problem, the way your buyer would describe it.}
{One line on what you did about it.}
Inside the {name of the resource}:
→ {Part 1}
↳ {what it does for them}
→ {Part 2}
↳ {what it does for them}
{4 to 7 parts in total}
It took me {how long} to {build or figure this out}, and you can steal it in {minutes}.
Free access 👇Set it up
Make a teammate called Writer. For each lead magnet with an image, write the post with my
"my-voice" skill and this template: {paste it}. Lead with the outcome, keep the problem to
one paragraph, make the → items match the sections of the resource in the same order, and
end with "Free access 👇" on its own line. Don't put the keyword in the post, don't add
like, repost or connect steps, and don't make up proof. Write 3 hooks and put the other 2
under the post so I can swap.When it runs
After the designer.
Where it goes
The Post column on the card. You read it, post it yourself, and move the card to Live with the post URL.
07 · The sorter
Buyers first, not first come
Sorts every commenter into Buyers, Maybes, Peers and Skips, so you DM the people who can actually buy from you first instead of in the order they commented. To do that it needs your ICP file, which you write once.
Make your ICP file
Ask Grok Bot to interview you and write it up as a skill called "my-icp":
Interview me one question at a time and write a skill called "my-icp" that covers: - the job titles that buy from me, and who makes the decision - the company types, industries and sizes I work with - the problems they tell me about on calls, in their own words - the people who comment on my posts but never buy (other creators, people selling what I sell, students, job seekers) - 5 real past clients as examples, described by headline only
Then give it a points table
Start with something like this and change the numbers until the Buyers list looks right to you:
| Signal | Points |
|---|---|
| Title matches your buyer or decision maker | +30 to 40 |
| Company type or industry matches | +15 to 25 |
| Comment says more than the keyword | +10 to 15 |
| Comment mentions a problem from your ICP file | +10 to 15 |
| Sells what you sell, or on your never-buy list | -40 |
| Student, job seeker or empty headline | -25 |
Pick your cut-offs (for example Buyers 60+, Maybes 35 to 59), make anyone on your never-buy list a Peer whatever the score, and the rest are Skips. It only scores what's on the screen, so it never looks people up or guesses.
Set it up
Make a teammate called Sorter. For each lead magnet marked Live:
- Get every comment, either by opening the post in your browser and reading the comments,
or with the Apify comments scraper and the post URL.
- Score each new commenter with my "my-icp" skill and this table: {paste it}.
- Add them to Commenters with score, tier and a one-line reason.
- Send me one line: "{N} new comments: {B} Buyers, {M} Maybes, {P} Peers, {S} Skips."
Don't score anyone twice.When it runs
A routine every 3 hours for the first 3 days after the post goes live.
Where it goes
The Commenters database. Read the Buyers once before anything goes out, and if you move someone, tell it why ("anyone at a recruitment agency is a Buyer for me") so it learns.
08 · The closer
DMs that book the call
DMs the buyers first and keeps track of every call they book. Everyone still gets the resource they asked for. Buyers just get it first, and their DM asks about them instead of pitching.
The rules I give it
- Buyers today, then Maybes, then everyone else
- The first DM delivers the resource and asks one question about them
- No pitch and never a calendar link in the first DM
- A call only gets offered once they've told you about a problem you solve
- One nudge after 3 or 4 quiet days, then let it go
Starter DMs to adapt
Grok Bot rewrites them for each person:
First DM
Hey {first name}, here's the {resource}: {link}
Out of curiosity, {one question about their situation, based on their headline or comment}?
Offering the call (only after they've described a problem you solve)
That sounds a lot like what I help {type of client} with. Want to jump on a quick call
about it? Happy to show you how I'd handle {their problem, in their words}.
After they say yes
Nice! Here's my calendar, grab whatever works: {booking link}
The nudge
Hey {first name}, no worries if the timing's off, just didn't want this to get buriedThe tracker
Every Buyer and Maybe gets a row in Calls Tracker, and it moves through the stages:
| Stage | Means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| To DM | Sorted, not messaged yet | Send the first DM |
| Delivered | Got the resource and your question | Wait for a reply, nudge once after 3 or 4 days |
| Talking | They replied | Keep asking until they describe a problem you solve |
| Call offered | You offered a call | Send the calendar link once they say yes |
| Booked | Call on the calendar | Add the call date |
| Closed | No, or no reply after the nudge | Nothing |
Set it up
Make a teammate called Closer. After every Sorter run:
- Add every new Buyer and Maybe to Calls Tracker as To DM.
- Write a first DM for each one from my starter DMs and their comment, Buyers first.
- Show me the drafts. When I say go, open LinkedIn in your browser and send them one by one
at a normal pace, then mark them Delivered. (Or I'll send them myself if I say so.)
Every morning at 9:00:
- Check my LinkedIn messages for replies from people in the tracker and update their stage.
- Draft the next message for anyone waiting on me, following my rules: {paste the rules}.
- List who needs a nudge today.
Every Friday, send me one line per lead magnet: comments, Buyers, replies, calls offered,
calls booked.When it runs
After each Sorter run, every morning at 9:00, and a summary on Fridays.
Where it goes
The Calls Tracker. The Friday line is the bit I care about most, because it shows straight away which lead magnets book calls and which ones only get comments.
