Tear down any competitor's LinkedInin one prompt
Claude opens the profile in its own browser, reads the last 40 posts and tells you what's working for them, what isn't, and where there's room for you. I ran it on myself first.

Know your market by lunch
By the end of this you'll have a one-page teardown of any LinkedIn profile, and a map of your market once you've done five.
Scrolling a competitor's feed tells you what they post. It doesn't tell you which posts beat their normal, which lead magnets pulled comments, or what they never talk about. The skill reads the posts, does the maths and writes it up in about 10 minutes per profile.
You'll need the Claude desktop app, since the skill uses Claude's own browser to read the profile. If you'd rather not use the browser, there's a scraper option that costs under $1 per profile.

02 · My teardown
What it told me about my own feed
I ran it on my last 40 posts, from August 16 to October 29, 2026. My normal score is 32, so a post at 3x scored 96 or more.
| My 5 best posts | x normal | Comments |
|---|---|---|
| We pulled the opening line of 2,204 top posts from 53 creators. (lead magnet) | 53.6x | 732 |
| Just hit 3,000 followers on LinkedIn | 19.5x | 162 |
| We analyzed 1,446 top posts from 40 creators. (lead magnet) | 12.7x | 172 |
| I built a prompt that interviews you like a ghostwriter would. (lead magnet) | 10.0x | 128 |
| I built a complete Claude content team. (lead magnet) | 7.8x | 101 |
- Lead magnets (8 posts)6.2x
- News recaps (4 posts)0.9x
- 8 of my 12 best posts were lead magnets or something I built with Claude.
- None of my 4 news posts did better than 1.2x my normal.
- My 5 worst posts were all opinion posts, every one at 0.3x or below.
- I posted about 4 times a week, which was fine. The mix was the problem: 8 lead magnets out of 40 posts.
03 · Run it
Install it and point it at a profile
The skill opens the profile in Claude's browser, reads the posts, then writes the report.
- Download
competitor-teardown.zipbelow and don't unzip it. - In Claude, go to Customize > Skills, click +, then Upload a skill, and pick the zip.
- Turn on code execution in Settings > Capabilities so it can do the maths.
- Use the Claude desktop app and make sure you're signed in to LinkedIn in Claude's browser.
Use the competitor-teardown skill on this profile:
{LinkedIn profile link}
What I sell, so you can tell me where my opening is: {one line}
Read their last 40 original posts in your browser, go slowly, then write the one-page teardown. The faster version
Doing ten profiles? Pull the posts with harvestapi/linkedin-profile-posts on apify.com (40 posts per profile, about $2 per 1,000 posts, so under $1 a profile) and attach the export. Claude then only opens the profile page itself for the headline, About and Featured section.

}04 · The report
One page, eight sections
Every teardown comes back in the same order, so five of them line up.
- Offer. What they sell, to whom, and who it's really for based on who the posts talk to.
- Their 5 best posts, with x normal, comments, and one line on why each one worked.
- Their 5 worst posts, so you know what not to copy.
- Lead magnets. Every giveaway, the keyword, the comments it got and how it did against their normal.
- Call to action. Where the Featured section, About and contact link send people.
- Posting rhythm. Posts a week, best days, how many have a visual.
- What they never post about. Topics their buyers care about that they skip. Usually your opening.
- 3 things to do differently in your next 10 posts, each tied to a finding.
It only quotes the first line of any post and links to the rest. It never guesses revenue, prices or clients that aren't public.
05 · Market map
Five teardowns, one table
Once you've run it on 3 to 5 competitors, put them side by side.
Use the competitor-teardown skill. Here are my teardowns of {names}.
Put them in one table: offer, price if public, main buyer, best format, lead magnet types, where the call to action goes, and topics nobody covers. Then tell me which position nobody in the table owns, and write 10 post ideas for me that take it.Run it again every quarter. The first one tells you where the room is, the next ones tell you who moved into it.
